top 6 urasawas
- Otcho (20th Century Boys), because he is incredibly bad-ass in everything he does for his entire life. Literally his entire life. Okay, there was that period in his douchy businessman years, but other than that, NON STOP COOL.
- Inspector Heinrich Lunge (Monster), because he has one of the most satisfying character development arcs I’ve ever seen in anything. He starts out unintentionally entertaining in how creepy and meticulous he is, but by the end of the series, you are rooting for this guy.
- Inspector Gesicht (Pluto) because I love inspectors. Or because he’s a really strong protagonist. Just a likable dude who can be a total bad-ass when he wants to be.
- Wolfgang Grimmer (Monster) because he is TOO interesting. He’s got such great layers to him with his affable exterior and his extremely troubled and confused interior. One of Urasawa’s more heartbreaking characters. What a sweetheart.
- Kanna Endo (20th Century Boys) cause she’s a baby!
- Nina Fortner (Monster) because she’s a great example of how female characters should be. Strong and capable, I can dig it.
Runner ups: Yukiji Setoguchi (almost switched Nina with her), Kenji Endo, Dr. Julius Reichwein, Kyoko Koizumi, Brando, and Brau-1589.
