even tho I can spot a million flaws with it now it will always have a special place in my heart just because of the time and effort I put into it at the time

Apparently CollegeHumor did their own take on a Bioshock Under the Sea parody so I decided to dredge back up my own version I did three years ago.  I’m still very proud of it, actually.

top 10 video games I’ve played with the best voice acting

Nobody asked for this, but I felt like compiling a list like this.  I care more about voice acting probably more than most people.  Didn’t include games where I only played with Japanese audio.

1.  Bioshock (The golden standard for me.  Even the most minor one-shot characters are all perfectly played)

Who Steals the Show: Armin Shimerman as Andrew Ryan

2.  Uncharted (While they have the benefit of doing full motion capture work at the same time, the cast in this is still incredible)

Who Steals the Show: Nolan North as Nathan Drake and Richard McGonagle as Victor Sullivan

3.  Mass Effect (Considering the HUGE number of characters in this, it’s amazing how consistently good the voice acting is.  Other games with huge amounts of dialogue can’t say the same.  I’m looking at you, Fallout and Skyrim)

Who Steals the Show: Jennifer Hale as Commander Shepard and Brandon Keener as Garrus Vakarian

4.  God of War (The whole atmosphere of the Greek gods is captured so well.  Western productions tend to have a much more consistent quality to them.  One thing I didn’t care for though is the inconsistency in casting; a lot of characters switched actors between games)

Who Steals the Show: Terrence C. Carson as Kratos, Linda Hunt as the narrator, and Corey Burton as Zeus

5.  Kingdom Hearts (This is high up mainly because of the benefits of having the official Disney voice actors, who are all legendary.  But even the original characters are played well)

Who Steals the Show: Every Disney actor

6.  Ratchet and Clank (This series has gotten a lot better with the voice acting over time.  The new PS3 games are all flawless in delivery and comedic timing)

Who Steals the Show: Armin Shimerman as Dr. Nefarious and Jim Ward as Captain Qwark

7.  Portal (I hesitated to put this here cause there’s really only one voice in the first game.  I haven’t played 2 yet, but who cares, Ellen McLain is perfect in it)

Who Steals the Show: Who do you think.

8.  Enslaved (A lesser known gem.  It benefits from a small cast led by pitch perfect Andy Serkis)

Who Steals the Show: Andy Serkis as Monkey

9.  No More Heroes (Considering how bad this probably COULD’VE been, I was really impressed at how solid this cast was.  The perfect amount of hamminess)

Who Steals the Show: Richard McGonagle as Dr. Peace and Robin Atkin Downes as Travis Touchdown

10.  Persona 3 and 4 (4’s dub is better overall.  3’s main cast is a LOT shakier in terms of overall quality while 4’s is basically perfect across the board.  Minor characters tend to suffer more in terms of quality in these games, but considering the amount of dialogue, these games are really solid)

Who Steals the Show: In 3, Vic Mignogna as Junpei Iori and Liam O’Brien as Akihiko Sanada.  In 4, Yuri Lowenthal as Yosuke Hanamura and Troy Baker as Kanji Tatsumi

Runners-up: Tales games, Borderlands, Professor Layton, Assassin’s Creed, Final Fantasy XIII, and Bastion (which also only has one primary voice actor).

Are people seriously complaining about this majestic-ass boxart.  Look at this rugged, handsome man.  Are people fucking stupid
Who even cares about boxart anyway, Mass Effect 2 had the stupidest box art in the world, and I didn’t care cause the game itself was incredible.

I mean, look at that.  Who knew it was possible to make a bad-ass like Thane look so much like a goon.

he’s like a fucking power rangers bad guy

At the Oriental Import store today

I’ve mentioned it before, but it’s fuckin nerd paradise.  And today they had apparently gotten new EVERYTHING and that includes new food.  I got a Pumpkin Kit Kat again (cause they’re damn good), Peanut Butter Pocky, and Coconut Pocky.

Peanut Butter Pocky is basically all it is, I mean you can’t really go wrong with peanut butter.  Coconut Pocky’s great, though, if you’re like me and love coconut.  Like Girl Scout Samoas on a stick.  And if you hate coconut, you won’t change your mind, although the coconut on these aren’t actually that bad texture-wis-

YEAH YEAH WHATEVER LOOK I GOT A BROOK

The only Straw Hat I don’t have a figure of is Robin, but they have one there, so at some point in the future, I’ll pick her up too.  I try to stagger my visits to this place because if I don’t, I’ll have no money for the rest of my life.

One-take monologues: Voice acting exercises where I do a monologue I love in only one take, the voice acting equivalent of a sketch/scribble.  No editing, no polishing, no re-doing, better get it right the first time, buddy.

Anything Andrew Ryan says is magnificent.  But this is one of the speeches that always stuck with me.

WARNING: It can get pretty loud near the end, cause of good old fashioned shouting.

Picked up this Luffy the other day

He was the LAST ONE they had, so I can take satisfaction in the thought that some little kid is gonna come into the store going, “MOM MOM I HOPE THEY HAVE MY FAVORITE ONE PIECE CHARACTER LUFFY HERE I SAW HIM HERE YESTERDAY”

and that kid will cry.

But that’s alright, cause Luffy’s just gonna chill with his best friend Cool Usopp.

AND HIS OTHER NEW FRIEND BIG DADDY!!!  RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!
